Apple Limited Warranty coverage
Our Limited Warranty covers your product and Apple-branded accessories against defects for one year from the date you bought them. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.
Our warranty doesn't cover damage caused by accidents or unauthorized modifications. See the warranty for complete details. You can check your warranty status online and update your proof-of-purchase information if there's an error in our records.
Can I buy additional coverage for my Mac notebook?
AppleCare Protection Plan gives you expert telephone support and additional hardware service options up to three years from the day you bought your Mac notebook. You can buy the AppleCare Protection Plan up to one year from the day you bought your Mac notebook.
You may also have consumer law rights. Apple Limited Warranty and AppleCare Protection Plan benefits are in addition to your rights under consumer law.
Out-of-warranty service
Repairs are considered out of warranty when:
- Your Mac notebook is over one year old
- Your Mac notebook has an issue that’s not covered under warranty, like accidental damage or damage caused by unauthorized modifications
The out-of-warranty repair costs will depend on the type of service and if your issue is covered under an AppleCare Protection Plan. You might also have consumer law rights in addition to the Apple warranty.
Battery service
If your battery has a manufacturing defect and it's covered by the Apple Limited Warranty, AppleCare Protection Plan, or consumer law, we'll service it at no additional cost. Our warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use.
We might need to test your product to find the cause of your battery issue. If your Mac notebook isn't covered, we can replace your battery for a fee.
You get an additional benefit if you have AppleCare Protection Plan. If your Mac notebook can hold only 80 percent or less of its original capacity and it's covered by your AppleCare plan, we'll service your battery at no charge.
After service, we provide a warranty against hardware defects in a replacement battery for one year from the date of battery service. Like the warranty on your original battery, it doesn’t cover normal use.
Apple accessories
The Apple-branded accessories that come in the box with your Mac, including the power adapter, are covered by our warranty and consumer law. They’re also covered by your AppleCare Protection Plan. When you get service, you'll need the serial number for your Mac notebook. For service details, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
After service
We guarantee our service, including replacement parts, for 90 days or the remaining term of your Apple warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan coverage, whichever is longer. We guarantee a replacement Mac notebook battery for one year after service. We offer this whenever you get service from us or from an Apple Authorized Service Provider. This does not affect your consumer law rights.
